In 2012, anyone who currently preforms risk assessments and/or the design & delivery of Manual Handling training must attain a FETAC level 6 AwardManual Handling training is an ongoing cost, as employees must be continually trained up to ensure compliance with current & ever changing Health & Safety legislation.

 

What do I learn?

Participants are trained to conduct Manual Handling Risk Assessments and deliver Manual Handling Training both in-company and externally. The course is intensive and highly participative.

Aims & Objectives:

Instruct others on the theory and techniques of safe manual handling. To conduct manual handling task risk assessments related to the organisations needs. To recommend preventative measures, in order to eliminate or reduce the associated risks of injury while carrying out manual handling tasks. To comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at work (General Application) Regulations 2007.

 

Who Should Attend?

Those wishing to attain the skills and knowledge required to be able to develop and delivery manual handling sessions in their workplace.

 

Course Content:

1. Legislation and health benefits pertaining to manual handling
2. Anatomy and Back Care
3. Ergonomic Principles and Risk Assessments
4. Manual Handling Principles and Techniques
5. Planning and Design of Manual Handling Training Techniques
6. Delivery of Manual Handling Training Programmes

 

Methodology:

A practical and highly participative approach will be used throughout the course. When theory is introduced it will be applied to practical situations encountered by the participants. A variety of training aids will be used

 

Requirements:

This course will be taught and evaluated in English and so requires a good general understand of English both written and oral. Student should  specify any special needs on booking the course. Students will be required to demonstrate lifting techniques and therefore must be physically capable of lifting in order to participate in the course.

 

Evaluation Methods:

Participants will be required to undertake a written and practical exam as well as complete an assignment in their own time.

The certificate awarded will accredit successful participants to provide manual handling training within their workplaces to comply with current Health and Safety Legislation.  This Certification will have a validity of 5 years, after which a refresher course must be undertaken to renew.
